There are rare occasions when art and practicality coalesce to give shape to conceptions that are beyond the scope of conventional organization. The above pictured bookshelf from Kartell (designed by Ron Arad) exemplifies this rarity. Comprising of folding, ribbon-like patterns of plastic sheets, the unique aesthetics of the florid design is a testament to the classy Italian essence of style.

However, in spite of the bending patterns of the plastic, all of the components of the item are actually modular in nature. This means that they can be assembled singularly or combined with several modules to form a full fledged bookshelf.

Finally, coming to the commercial scheme of things, each bookshelf module has dimensions of 1000mm (width) x 200mm (depth) x 200mm (height), with a convenient weight of around just 2.7 kgs. They are available in three different color schemes to suit the preferred decor ambiance of the user. As for the pricing, the bookshelf conception would set you back by £154 (around $203).
