Furniture that is outrightly pared down and minimalist, that sets apart from fashionable currency yet defines functionality in human terms is rare to find. Thanks to German designer Konstantin Grcic’s One Collection we have an out-and-out chance to acquaint ourselves with something in the genre. The design graduate from Royal College of Art in London has designed Chair One with 4 star base, which is very geometric in form and is constructed out of state-of-the-art industrial materials that make it perfect for both indoor and outdoor use.
Combining accuracy with comfort, the Chair One by Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design studio in Munich is one of the many furniture and lighting products designed by the studio for leading design companies in Europe. Featuring an audacious geometric shape, this swivel armchair proposes a very original and graphic presence in any environment.
The Chair One features legs made in polished or anodized aluminum, while the seat is made in polished die-cast aluminum. The chair’s seat can be customized in die-cast aluminum that’s treated with sputtered fluorinated titanium and is painted finely with polyester powder. Available with cushions for the seat and back, the Chair One comes in white, red and grey anthracite metalized colors.
The fire-resistant Chair One is easy on the environment too. Made from about 68 percent recycled material, the chair is 99 percent recyclable. Measuring 33-inches from top to bottom, the Chair One is 22-inch wide, and weighs 26.4 pounds. Good enough to withstand extreme temperatures outdoors, the Chair One can be bought for £354 (approx. $600).
